If you have stubborn pockets of fat that you’ve tried to eliminate without success, you can now zap away that fat and get a thinner body with SculpSure. SculpSure is next-generation body contouring technology that requires no anesthesia, no incisions, and takes less than 30 minutes to contour the body and tighten the skin. But since SculpSure is new technology, you may be wondering – Is SculpSure safe.
What is SculpSure?
SculpSure is a non-invasive procedure that has been cleared by the FDA for fat reduction. It is a laser treatment that works by using a 1064nm laser to target the subcutaneous fat below the skin’s surface. SculpSure is indicated for treatment of the abdomen and flanks.
SculpSure is an outpatient treatment that takes 25 minutes to perform, and removes 24% of the treated fat. It’s the ideal way to get that well-defined midsection you’ve always wanted.
In addition to sculpting the body, the heating effects of SculpSure have been shown to encourage collagen. As a result, there is some tightening of the skin after treatment.
How it works
The laser is fitted with 4 rectangular applicators that deliver the laser energy deep into the fat cells, and establishes a controlled temperature of 42 to 47 degrees Celsius. This disrupts and eventually destroys the fat cells, which are gradually eliminated by the body in the ensuing weeks. The applicators can be placed on different locations, in order to treat separate areas around the abdomen and flanks at the same time.
The laser has a contact cooling system along with adjustable power options, and these features help to ensure that discomfort is minimized.
How many treatments will you need?
Many patients achieve optimal results after one treatment with SculpSure. However, the number of treatments needed varies, as it depends on each patient’s unique aesthetic goals. It is best to discuss your expectations with your physician during your consultation, so that he/she can customize a plan for you.
What to expect after treatment
There is the possibility of some swelling, bruising and tenderness after SculpSure treatment, which may take a few days to resolve. However, most patients are able to resume normal activities after treatment. Some results can be seen within 6 weeks, but final results can take up to 12 weeks.
Is it safe?
SculpSure is a safe procedure that has no real risks, but it must be performed by a well-trained physician with the relevant certification in using the technology. Patients should understand that the safety of a procedure is directly linked to the skill and expertise of the medical professional doing the treatment.
Clinical studies that have been carried so far do not indicate that there are any long term side-effects related to SculpSure. The majority of the patients, who participated in the clinical studies that were conducted prior to approval, were very satisfied with their results.
SculpSure does not damage the outer layer of the skin in any way, as it specifically targets the fat cells.
How long do the results last?
The results achieved with SculpSure are long-lasting. Once the fat cells are eliminated from the body they are gone for good. So as long as you maintain a healthy diet, and engage in regular exercise, you can expect to sustain the optimal results.
Am I a good candidate for SculpSure?
SculpSure is not weight loss surgery, but is meant to reduce isolated pockets of fat. It is a fat loss treatment that is designed to help you get rid of troublesome fatty areas in the mid-section. SculpSure is not a weight loss solution, and is therefore not meant to treat people that have a lot of weight to lose.
If you want to get rid of stubborn bulges on the abdomen and flanks, but you are not interested in having invasive surgery, SculpSure may be the right treatment for you.
